Kia Ora tātou – Greetings to you all
Primary Update
Kia ora e te whānau,
We are well in the swing of things for term 4 and can’t believe it is week 5 already! The rest of the term is going to be just as busy!
HMS Buffalo - Museum in class sessions
We previously mentioned that we had in class sessions for the HMS Buffalo in connection with our local museum coming up. We would like to thank Becs for bringing history and local curriculum into our kura. The learning experiences are engaging and tailored to all of our year levels across the primary.
Yr 3-6 Athletics
Last week we had our annual Yr 3-6 Athletics Day, which was hugely successful - with some staff participating in the relays! While these days are filled with loads of fun, effort, perseverance and achievement, they can also be quite tiring! Amazing mahi from our primary team involved in this event and as always the amazing organisation and support from Leisa and her team! Years 1 and 2 Athletics are on Monday 4th December!
Road Patrol Training
This is happening this Friday - today! We are really proud of all of our Road Safety Traffic Team for 2023 and also our current year 5 students who have put their names forward to volunteer for 2024. Their job is really important and they take this responsibility very seriously. At times it can be quite a thankless role and very challenging but they persevere! Please support them when crossing the road - across the crossing!
KAURI Days and Service Day
Next Tuesday and Thursday we have our KAURI Days - Teachers have planned some fun but challenging activities for our students. Wednesday is service day - Yr 3-4 classes are going to do a beach clean up, other classes are going to be involved in a variety of tasks that will benefit our primary years environment and classrooms.
Reminders:)
As we near the end of the school year our students can sometimes become quite tired. Please continue to ensure they are getting enough sleep. Hats, water bottles and sunscreen will be required more and more as the weather continues to warm up - our primary rule - no hat, no play!
Last but definitely not least, we wish our senior students all the best for their exams and may their futures be exactly as they want them to be!
Ngā mihi,
Hira & Pip

Room 22 - Drawing
Room 22 tamariki practising their drawing skills by sketching our caterpillars and chrysalis’s.
M3 - Native Birds
M3 have been investigating native birds, especially as many are nesting now. The bird we have focussed on has been tōrea-pango, the oyster catcher. They have learned about how the birds nest on the beach and how the chicks blend in with the sand, making it really hard to see them. A huge amount of learning and some really fantastic art work.
M4 and M7 - Robots
On Wednesday we had Fliss from Office Max come and teach our ākonga some coding using Sphero Indi robots. M4 and M7 worked together to code the robot through metamorphosis of a butterfly. Lots of fun!
Y7-8 Athletics Day
Tuesdays Y7/8 Athletics day had sunshine, enthusiasm and lots of great results. This annual event is the qualifying event for our Thames Valley Cluster, so we were joined by Whenuakite School for this awesome day. Stay tuned for who qualified for Peninsula Central at the upcoming Thames Valley Athletics Day.
International Students Beach Day
Mr Wilson and Mr Irwin took 11 International students out to Crayfish Bay. Beautiful weather, lots of swimming, games and general fun. We stayed for most of the day with ice cream and pizza at Luke's on the way home. The Students all had a great day.
