Senior Students Update
Practice Exams:
As practice exams approach, it's natural to feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. The student leaders would like to offer you all some great tips to help you excel academically while taking care of your wellbeing. First of all create a study plan by breaking down subjects into manageable chunks, setting realistic goals, and prioritizing topics. Practice past papers to familiarize yourself with the exam format and time yourself under exam conditions. Seek help from teachers or classmates when needed. Make sure to take breaks and look after yourself, stretch, hydrate, and relax your mind. Stay active by incorporating physical activity into your daily routine for better mood and concentration. Eat well and sleep well, fueling your brain with nutritious foods, staying hydrated, and aiming for 7-9 hours of sleep. Practice mindfulness and relaxation through meditation, deep-breathing exercises, yoga, and enjoy activities to reduce stress. Stay positive by believing in your abilities, celebrating small achievements, and remembering that practice exams are a learning experience. Practice exams will be occurring in Week 6 Term 3. Good luck, and remember, preparation is the key to confidence. You've got this!
Rubbish Cleanup:
We would just like to give a special mention to Matahaorua for winning 100 points in the rubbish clean up and well done to everyone for helping keep our school tidy.

Trophy Return - URGENT!
Full School Assembly
The Middle Years Year 10 Leaders did a great job in organising our whole school celebration assembly on Thursday which was a great success. Well Done to everyone! Here are some photos:
Room 23 - Maths
This morning we practiced using our Math eyes in our outside learning environment to collect items to measure and compare against other things. We first looked at lengths as a group, then we ordered each item from longest to shortest to check our answers.
M1 - Beach Study
Have a look at M1’s beach! We are building our own beach in our classroom so we can investigate shells and interesting things we have found. The children are learning the names of so many shells, where they live, and what they eat as part of our study on eco-systems.
M6 - Olympic Maths
We have been exploring measurement for maths over the past week. Looking at length, height, weight and today was time. Here are some pictures of our maths Olympics- check out our medal winners 🏆
M10 - Kiwi
M10 made kiwi but the kiwi needed some kai. We made worms that were 12cm long and used them to find other things around the class that were the same length.
Year 7/8 Dune Ecology and Restoration Project
A huge thank you to guest speakers Shelley Balsom from Coast Care and Cheyenne Walmsley (DoC) for their presentation about dune ecology and restoration this week. The year 7 and 8's are looking forward to going along to support the restoration of the dunes at Wharekaho beach by planting sand-binding dune plants. This is a great opportunity to take action and make a real authentic difference to our local community and the health of the natural world.
Shem and Lliam entertaining the crowd voice acting as dotterels at a presentation by our guest speakers in preparation for the year 7/8 dune restoration trip next week.
Te Hā o Hei - Trapline Success
Last week students from Te Hā o Hei met the Predator Free Hauraki Coromandel field support team at Whitianga Bike Park. With the team's support, the students learnt how to use TrapNZ and set out a mustelid line using DOC200 traps and a Rat line using T-Rex traps. Here are a few photos of our catches.
Golf Academy
Here are some great photos from our new Wednesday Golf Academy, run by Sean Butler.

Rippa Rugby Day
The Rippa Rugby 1st Qualifying tournament was held out at Mercury Bay Multi Sports Park with 8 Mercury Bay Teams competing for a place in the Thames Valley Rippa finals day to be held in Paeroa at the end of August. All our students have been training hard to win the right to go through but unfortunatly Tairua proved too strong with the 7/8 boys so they will go through. Our year 5/6 teams enjoyed a mix of wins and losses and really enjoyed learning the game. One of year 7/8 Girls team will go through to finals day after being undefeated all day.Massive thanks to our Student refs & Student coaches for giving up your lunchtimes to train the children.
